Big Guitar Brewfest

Friday, May 17, 2019, from 7:00pm: The annual Big Guitar Brewfest hosted by the Nashville Sounds is on Friday, May 17, 2019, from 7:00pm to 11:00pm at First Tennessee Park. Attendees can sample beers from over 50 craft and local breweries. There will also be live music on the Puckett's stage as well as games at The Band Box

Montgomery’s River Bend Brewfest

Friday, May 17 from 6-9PM: There’s a craft beer explosion going on in Alabama, and Montgomery’s River Bend Brewfest is going to represent it well this Friday.

“This year’s River Bend Brewfest is shaping up really nicely,” said Ken Reynolds of Montgomery’s Special Events Department.

It’s being held at the Montgomery Union Station Train Shed downtown, 300 Water St., from 6-9 p.m.

More than 50 different breweries will be represented this year. “And out of that, 18 will be from the state of Alabama,” Reynolds said.

Food vendors will be on site.

Reynolds said that live music will be performed by Mac Cone and Burnham Wood.

Guests can bring chairs, and leashed pets are allowed.

After 7 years, this event is still only a $25 ticket. Non-drinkers are admitted for free.

“I’m pleased that we’ve been able to hold the line on costs,” Reynolds said.

The price includes a commemorative glass. Walk around and sample the wide variety of beers.

“Once again, this year proceeds from the event will benefit the Family Sunshine Center,” Reynolds said. “It’s extremely satisfying to be able to put on a great event for Montgomery and the River Region, and then also to have a terrific organization like the Family Sunshine Center benefit from what we’re doing.”

The event is limited to 1,000 tickets, so people wanting to attend should get theirs soon. “The reason we do that is because our distributors can only bring in so much product,” Reynolds said.

Tickets are available online at funinmontgomery.com, and are also available from the Special Events Department office on 200 Coosa Street, by phone at 334-625-2100. “And you can also pick them up in person at Derk’s Filet & Vine on Cloverdale Road,” Reynolds said.

"Under the Sea" fundraiser for UMA w/ Yacht Rock Schooner

Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 6 PM – 10 PM: The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) is excited to announce that Yacht Rock Schooner will headline the 2nd annual “Under The Sea” fundraiser for the Underwater Museum of Art (UMA), a collaborative project with the South Walton Artificial Reef Association (SWARA). “Under the Sea” will take place on Thursday, May 9th, 6:00 - 10:00 PM, in Grand Boulevard’s Town Center and is the official kick-off party for Art Month South Walton, a month-long celebration of the arts that includes many diverse arts events throughout the month of May.

The Yacht Rock Schooner throws the smoothest dance party on the high seas, taking guests on a journey to a time when good-times music had heart and musical integrity. The 8-man Schooner specializes in the smooth sounds of the late ’70s and early ’80s. It’s a party that spans generations, and the band is comprised of some of Atlanta’s top players with a dual keyboard setup, multiple ace vocalists and (of course) a sax man.

“Under The Sea” party-goers will have an exclusive chance to meet the 2019 UMA artists and see the original work they have created before it is deployed to the UMA site. Special food menu items from some of South Walton’s most popular restaurants will be available, along with a cash bar featuring signature cocktails, wine, and beer. Tickets are $65 per person and are on sale now at UMAFL.org and CulturalArtsAlliance.com. Sponsors receive complimentary VIP tickets to and reserved seating at the event. Contact Jennifer@culturalartsalliance.com for information about sponsoring an individual sculpture.

Funds raised from “Under The Sea” ticket sales and an auction will benefit the Underwater Museum of Art, the nation’s first permanent dedicated sculpture museum, recognized as one of TIME magazine’s 2018 100 World’s Greatest Places as well as one of National Geographic’s Best Trips 2019.
