Friday, May 17 from 6-9PM: There’s a craft beer explosion going on in Alabama, and Montgomery’s River Bend Brewfest is going to represent it well this Friday.
“This year’s River Bend Brewfest is shaping up really nicely,” said Ken Reynolds of Montgomery’s Special Events Department.
It’s being held at the Montgomery Union Station Train Shed downtown, 300 Water St., from 6-9 p.m.
More than 50 different breweries will be represented this year. “And out of that, 18 will be from the state of Alabama,” Reynolds said.
Food vendors will be on site.
Reynolds said that live music will be performed by Mac Cone and Burnham Wood.
Guests can bring chairs, and leashed pets are allowed.
After 7 years, this event is still only a $25 ticket. Non-drinkers are admitted for free.
“I’m pleased that we’ve been able to hold the line on costs,” Reynolds said.
The price includes a commemorative glass. Walk around and sample the wide variety of beers.
“Once again, this year proceeds from the event will benefit the Family Sunshine Center,” Reynolds said. “It’s extremely satisfying to be able to put on a great event for Montgomery and the River Region, and then also to have a terrific organization like the Family Sunshine Center benefit from what we’re doing.”
The event is limited to 1,000 tickets, so people wanting to attend should get theirs soon. “The reason we do that is because our distributors can only bring in so much product,” Reynolds said.
Tickets are available online at funinmontgomery.com, and are also available from the Special Events Department office on 200 Coosa Street, by phone at 334-625-2100. “And you can also pick them up in person at Derk’s Filet & Vine on Cloverdale Road,” Reynolds said.
