Job Title: Business Manager

Job Description: We are seeking a professional with business administration experience and accounting experiencing for our new Business Manager role. The Business Manager will work for the Finance Director and closely with the COO.  The scope of work includes general human resource management and business management with a specific focus in accounting.  

Ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills- teamwork is vital to our success and this position will be a critical key to fostering a team “can do” culture.   

This manager will be capable of making all aspects of the business run more efficiently by creating, implementing and managing processes.  Suitable candidates should be able to identify new opportunities and areas of need and make recommendations to elevate performance.   The ideal candidate will have a “start up” mindset and have a passion for building teams and businesses.  As such, our Business Manager will need to think on their feet and be comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment.  The landscape of our industry changes quickly and we need someone that can adapt on learn on the spot.

Responsibilities (not limited to):

Accounting Related

  • Manage daily accounting including accounts payable, vendor management, deposits, management of petty cash and taproom cash drawer. Budget management and reporting.

  • Organize and manage monthly compliance reporting required for for the brewery at the Federal, State and Local level: all states distribution and Florida tax reporting.

  • Maintain organized records and correspond timely with offices for all agreements, licenses, registrations and brands.

Human Resources

  • Manage human resources including but not limited to: Payroll, time and attendance, job postings, creating and upkeeping job descriptions, screening and on-boarding and training of new employees. Lead in the development of employee handbook and SOP’s for each department.

  • Management of all insurance plans and company 401k plan

Office Management

  • Oversee office maintenance: Internet, phones, supplies, mail routing and recording, filing (personnel, business correspondence)

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Business Management with a strong preference for specific focus in accounting. Preference for MBA.

  • 5+ years of work related experience in office management, H/R or accounting. Preference will be given to candidates that have Brewery Experience and specific experience work with OrchestratedBEER operating software.

  • Experience in insurance analysis (Health, Dental, Workers Comp, Property, Liability)

  • Ability to plan and organize to complete many tasks within the work week.

  • Proven success in a leadership position with strength in communications and a yearning to gain new knowledge.

  • Technical excellence in MS Excel, Word and Quickbooks. Proficiency in SAP Business one, preferred.

Required Qualifications

o    3+ years of experience in a production brewery

o    Ability to follow SOPs and other documentation to produce a consistent, high quality product

o    Ability to work independently

o    Ability to think critically and react swiftly and appropriately to changing conditions

 Desired Qualifications

o    Formal Brewing Education

o    Mechanical background, ability to maintain and make small repairs to equipment

o    Fermentation/ Cellar Record Keeping

o    Support for Quality Control Department (cell counts, sampling, Forced Diacetyl test, meetings as needed)

o    CIP, cleaning, and PM of equipment and work areas

o    Process and recipe improvement/ adjustment

o    R&D Recipe Formulation and Brewing

o    Weekly Team Meetings

Responsibilities

o    Raw Materials Prep (milling, hop scaling, etc…)

o    Wort Production (full brewhouse operation)

o    Forklift operation

o    Brewing Log Record Keeping

o    Cellar Duties

    o    Yeast Harvesting/ management

    o    12 & 24-hour cell counts

    o    Daily Gravities & pH

    o    Biofine

    o    Beer Transfers

    o    Yeast to waste

    o    Temp/ Pressure Monitoring

Grayton Beer Company is seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager.   Experience performing microbiological, chemical and physical quality control testing in an industrial, clinical or food processing environment is required. 

This team member will conduct biological and chemical analysis, sensory checks and field analysis to ensure our quality standards are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES

o    Continuous documentation in laboratory quality control log and construction of weekly quality control report for the company’s operations report  

o    Calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments including: pH meter, dissolved oxygen meter,   turbidity meter, and spectrophotometer

o    Ordering and maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies

o    Maintaining, developing, and understanding laboratory and brewing control practices such as GMPs and HACCP

o    Monitoring all aspects of batches undergoing fermentation including: pH and gravity

o    Yeast management including all yeast cell counts, viability, and propagation

o    Utilizing sterile technique for collection of samples for bacterial plating and colony analysis

o    Preparation of microbiological media for bacterial plating

o    Routine analysis on finished product including: turbidity, dissolved oxygen, sensory analysis, pH, IBU and color

Desired Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in a related science discipline and a minimum of three years of applicable experience.   The person should have strong interpersonal skills and work well in a team environment.   Qualified applicants will demonstrate outstanding planning skills, an analytical mind and be technically savvy.  The candidate must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to deliver results.  Excellent communication skills are a must since the position requires advocating for quality standards across the entire organization, presenting in both formal and informal group settings.  Strong leadership and influencing skills are also important to be effective.
